A ring deck featuring dwarves. This is roughly the same deck that I played at Worlds 2005 and exactly the one I used at the Gccg Championships 2005.

Typically, this deck is played in the following manner.
Turn 0: Get acquainted with the common and uncommon anti-ring tricks.
Turn 1: Go to Lorien or improvise.
Turn 2-3: Play brooches, gather dwarves, get a precious gold ring using the great road and send Kili and/or Gloin running.
Turn 3-4: Get the scroll preferably at Cirith Ungol or Minas Morgul.
Turn 4-6: Be well protected. Dunk.
Hazards fall basically in the dump&run category. Just be careful with that Khamul and remember to use the Witch-King to avoid getting mutilated by sellswords and chill dousers while heading towards Mt. Doom .
Enjoy the deck or torment your opponent according to your preferences.

This is an incredibly good deck! One of the few to ever dunk on me 👿 .
I have a couple questions for you:
(1) About the Wizard: you have 3 And forths and 2 Eyes; that’s 5 cards that can’t be used without Pallando. But you also have a lot of dwarves in the deck, which means you probably won’t draw pallando turn 1. Have you had trouble in the respect? Or do you tend to get him right away? I ran a dunk deck for the gccg tourney with only 3 radagast in the deck, and I didnt get to play him until turn 3 in two games and turn 2 in the other. Am I just unlucky? Should I not play One Ring?….
(2) What is your standard starting company?
(3) What items do you put on which characters? I don;t like the little dwarves cuz they can get seized… Do you keep everything on the big guy and pallando?
Thanks!!!
Thanks! An early version dumped crams to reach Mt. Doom from Lorien and attempted to lucky search there, but I had to learn the hard way…
(1) Yeah, having the wizard in the starting hand is one of those basic concepts one has to master when going for a dunk 😛 . If that however doesn’t happen, the speed of draw of this deck is such that Pallando should appear by turn 3 at Rivendell. And when he does, I would like to have a forth he hastened in my hand as a protection against skin-changers so that I won’t lose one turn or have to resort to tests of form. Besides, when playtesting, I hoped so often to have a forth in my hand that I decided to add one more. This deck just has so many uses for it; skin-changers, rivers (especially), extra sideboarding, extra eyes of mandos/concealment/marvel’s told, untap Pallando to play a brooch when he arrives at Lorien, +1 modifier to an important check…etc. And if nothing else, it helps arriving at Mt. Doom before time is called by being an easy discard choice . (The vs. minion deck had also 3 forths at the Worlds.)
The reason for keeping both eyes straight in deck is because they are more useful in my experience when played during the first few turns, if played at all, to get a brooch, gold ring, party or the scroll in time. Perhaps one could be replaced with a precious gold ring from sideboard, but I prefer sideboarding a ring in and keeping two in deck, since it’s more convenient to draw a ring and play it with great road during turn 2 or 3 than to hold one in hand from the beginning .
(2) Thrain w/cram, Balin w/cram, Kili, Fili and Bombur/Dori usually. If Thrain gets bounced, I go for Thorin, Oin, Kili, Balin and Bombur if possible. Sometimes I reveal Thrain first, sometimes Balin to see if my opponent reveals Thrain, in which case I follow with Oin to make sure my opponent won’t get him.
(3) Thrain carries the ring and Pallando brooches if i suspect getting seized by terror before last turn. Ideally Gloin or Balin should carry the scroll but even then one might consider testing in response to seized.
